Joep vs VoiceLabs
VoiceLabs is a Dutch AI receptionist for small businesses, Robin, with a page for restaurants beside eleven other sectors, which according to its own site answers the phone, WhatsApp and the website chat, sends a reservation link or notes the request for your team, and checks availability live with Rax Booker. Joep is an AI phone assistant made for hospitality only: it answers the phone for snack bars, cafeterias, pizzerias and restaurants and handles the order all the way to the receipt out of your printer and the payment, for one fixed price. Below you see where they meet and where they differ.

Where VoiceLabs is strong
- Three channels in one subscription: Robin answers the phone and WhatsApp and the chat on your website, with a summary by email after every call.
- Low threshold: 14 days free, no setup fee, set up yourself from your website, cancel monthly.
- A catalogue of 68 integrations, with a Rax Booker flow that checks availability during the call.
- Trust: European data centres, a data processing agreement, an appearance on the NOS evening news, and cases with percentages from dentistry and fitness.
What Joep does differently
- Orders from start to finish: the receipt out of your own printer, a Mollie payment link to your own account, and the receipt only once it is paid. VoiceLabs’ restaurant page names takeaway orders only as a problem, not as a feature.
- Several calls at once in the one plan. With VoiceLabs, Starter takes one call at a time; for three at once on a busy Friday you need Groei, €249 per month. Joep: €100.
- Joep records the reservation himself and confirms it by email; Robin sends a link or notes the request for your team.
- Hospitality only: before the order Joep checks whether the address is in your delivery area, reads your menu from a PDF, a photo or an Excel file, and knows snack bars, cafeterias and pizzerias.
Who suits which?
VoiceLabs suits a venue that wants WhatsApp and the website chat answered as well as the phone, works with Rax Booker, or mainly wants a friendly receptionist who transfers calls and notes call-back requests. Joep suits a snack bar, cafeteria or pizzeria that wants its phone orders taken all the way to the receipt and the payment, and a restaurant that wants its phone answered for a fixed price, without a minute bundle and without a limit on calls at once.
Our verdict
VoiceLabs is a good general receptionist that answers more channels than Joep and is cheaper to try. For hospitality, Joep finishes the job: the order is not noted but printed and paid, the reservation is recorded rather than linked out, and the rush does not cost a pricier plan. Whoever wants WhatsApp and chat included picks VoiceLabs; whoever takes orders on the phone is better off with Joep.
Frequently asked questions
Does VoiceLabs take phone orders too, like Joep?
VoiceLabs’ site does not say so: the restaurant page names takeaway orders in the rush as a problem, but describes no ordering feature, no receipt and no payment link for orders; a POS integration falls under custom work. Joep puts the order on the receipt out of your own printer without a platform in between and, if you want, sends a Mollie payment link; the receipt only prints once it is paid.
What does VoiceLabs cost compared with Joep?
VoiceLabs costs €119 per month for Starter with 1,000 call minutes and one call at a time, €249 for Groei with 2,000 minutes and three calls at once, and €499 for Scale with 4,000 minutes and ten at once; billed yearly, two months are free. Extra minutes cost €0.15 and an SMS €0.13. Joep costs €100 per month or €1,080 per year, with no minute bundle and with several calls at once. Prices as on 30 October 2026; VoiceLabs shows its prices without saying whether VAT is included.
Does Joep answer WhatsApp and the chat on my website too, like VoiceLabs?
No. Joep sends your customer a confirmation and a payment link on WhatsApp, but does not answer messages customers send themselves, and has no website chat. If you want those channels answered by an AI, VoiceLabs is the better choice on that point.
