Joep vs Hebtrek

Hebtrek is a Dutch online ordering platform for takeaway and delivery with its own POS and, recently, an AI phone service which, according to its own site, takes orders from your Hebtrek menu, checks the delivery address and puts the order into the Hebtrek system. Joep is a standalone AI phone assistant for snack bars, cafeterias, pizzerias and restaurants: it only takes over the phone, prints the receipt on your own printer and arranges the payment, while you keep your POS and your delivery platforms. Below you see where they meet and where they differ.

Where Hebtrek is strong

  • Everything from one system: the menu, the allergens, the delivery area and the order status come from the Hebtrek platform, and the order goes to the POS and the kitchen receipt by itself.
  • Cheap to start: €15 per month plus €0.20 per minute, operational within minutes, with an 085 number or your own ported number.
  • Three languages as standard (Dutch, English and German), 24/7, and transfers to the venue.
  • A complete ordering platform underneath, with 950+ venues and a lower commission than the big delivery platforms, according to its own comparison.

What Joep does differently

  • Independent of any platform: Joep only takes over the phone. You keep your POS, your receipt printer, Thuisbezorgd or Uber Eats, and no commission per order is added.
  • The payment is built in: a Mollie payment link on WhatsApp to your own account, and the receipt only once it is paid. With Hebtrek, payment of a phone order is not stated.
  • One fixed price without a 24-month contract. The break-even point is around 425 call minutes a month: below it Hebtrek’s phone service is cheaper, above it Joep. A busy snack bar with 600 minutes pays Hebtrek €135 a month plus €49 once, Joep €100.
  • Reservations, several calls at once and a WhatsApp confirmation to the customer: standard with Joep, not stated on Hebtrek’s site.

Who suits which?

Hebtrek suits a venue that is looking for an ordering platform with its own POS anyway and wants the phone answered cheaply on the side, within that same system. Joep suits a snack bar, cafeteria or pizzeria that is happy with the POS and the delivery platforms it has and only wants to hand over the phone: order on the receipt, payment arranged, for a fixed price and cancellable monthly.

Our verdict

Hebtrek and Joep are the only two that put a phone order on a receipt, and that is where the resemblance ends. Hebtrek is a platform of which the phone service is one part: cheap if you get few calls and are with Hebtrek anyway, with a 24-month contract and commission per order. Joep is the standalone assistant: one fixed price, the payment included, and everything you already have stays in place. Whoever wants the whole platform picks Hebtrek; whoever only wants to hand over the phone is better off with Joep.

Frequently asked questions

What does Hebtrek’s phone service cost compared with Joep?

Hebtrek charges €49 activation, €15 per month and €0.20 per call minute, rounded up; at 600 minutes a month that is €135. On top come the platform’s costs if your orders run through it: 8% commission plus €0.48 per order with your own delivery. Joep costs €100 per month or €1,080 per year, with no charge per minute or per order. All prices excl. VAT, as on 28 October 2026.

Can I use Hebtrek’s phone service without the ordering platform?

According to the site you switch the phone service on from your Hebtrek dashboard and the assistant reads the menu from the Hebtrek system; whether the service can be used apart from the platform is not stated. Joep works independently of any platform: you add your menu as a PDF, a photo or an Excel file, and the receipt comes out of your own printer.

Does Joep put the order into my POS too, like Hebtrek?

Joep prints the order on your own receipt printer at the counter; the order does not go into your POS system. With Hebtrek the phone order lands in the Hebtrek POS, and the site names integrations with SIDES, Cashdesk, Deliverect and WIWO. If you work with such a POS and want the order in there, Hebtrek is the better choice on that point.
